Words Crush Wednesday – Maya Angelou Edition

Do you ever feel awkward when you eat in front of people? It could be that you’re so hungry and want to wolf down a burger but this is only your second date and, well, you want to look elegant. Or that chocolate fondant was so incredibly delicious, you want to lick the plate. Come on, it’s happened to everyone! There is something so personal about sharing a meal with other people. This week’s Words Crush Wednesday quote is by the ever-wise Maya Angelou. She was, and still is, such an inspiration.

“Eating is so intimate. It’s very sensual. When you invite someone to sit at your table and you want to cook for them, you’re inviting a person into your life.” – Maya Angelou

  2. Very interesting quote. I think of dinners that I have had for family members and friends that tend to have just a few guests and these people are definitely part of my life. But then there are times when there are also additional guests, perhaps invited by one of the other guests, and you may not ever have met them before and may not see them again. Sometimes they fit in just fine but other times they add a bit of disharmony to the gathering. Interesting to think of them as being invited into my life. Hmmm…

    • That is a very good point! I do agree that sometimes when we have people we don’t know very well at our home, the dynamic changes. It can be slightly uncomfortable but I do feel , that for those few hours, I will make them as welcome as any/all other guests.
