My interpretation of today’s Photography 101 assignment is slightly alternative. I’m not in the habit of having toilets in my garden, except this past week. You see, we’re renovating our bathroom and I happen to have the old toilet outside in front of my yellowwood tree. Temporarily, of course.
When I read the email outlining today’s “Solitude” assignment, I gave it much thought and really, when we go to the loo, what’s the one thing we want (apart from loo paper)? Solitude! I think this might resonate with parents. I say this because when I’m with my little nieces, they have a tendency to follow me into the bathroom. There is no privacy when you have a two and three year old hanging around! Their mom has said to me on numerous occasions that going to the toilet alone has become a luxury. With this in mind, here it is, my loo with a view.
I love it! The same thing happens when you have cats!

Fun take on the theme! It’s true, small children and a solitary trip to the loo aren’t compatible…

Thanks, Sonya. I wanted to do something humorous today since it’s Friday.

My kids used to follow me into the bathroom !l the time. NOw that they’re older the dog wants to come in. I’m drawing a line in the sand. Door closed and locked. Private time:)

My cat follows me whenever she gets the chance! I feel for you – finally the kids leave you alone and now the dog. I agree – door locked!

I haven’t peed alone since 2006. This picture brought a tear to my eye. Thank you for sharing. 🙂

Rachel, you have my deepest sympathies! I can’t imagine not being able to pee alone (with the exception of the cat here and there)!

That’s a very nice loo Gen. Love it!!! I was just thinking the other day I can’t seem to hv private loo time in peace and marked it as a draft post – either the kids or cats or all of them seem to like keeping me company.
Where’s the flush on that thing btw?😄

Hi Ann! Welcome back 🙂 Ohhhh you have such a good point – I guess this is a non-flushing loo, in order to fertilise the garden? That’s so gross! I hope you at least got some private loo time in Budapest!

What an eccentric take on solitude! What I like about these assignments is it takes a lot of thinking beforehand, and that is the moment I most enjoy

Absolutely love and your garden is awesome. As an outdoor environmental education teacher, the only moment solo moment is when we head off into the bus to the loo with a view 🙂

I’ve only had the pleasure of using an outdoor ‘toilet’ a handful of times and let me say, I have major respect for you but yes, the views are quite lovely!

I agree with your sister! Lol I have a 2 and 3 year old and they make sure to go in there with me every time I go. So sometimes I have to hide but once I lock the door I hear them knocking asking what I’m doing lol Good interpretation of solitude 😃

I’ve recently (and temporarily!) moved back to the family home and I can say that this is the only time I get some piece and quiet! And there are no youngsters in my family. Parent’s are just as time consuming it seems! L x

Yes but at least they don’t follow you into the toilet (I hope?)! I hope all is well? It’s very difficult – the young and the not-so-young are equally time-consuming. Hope you get some solitude though and take care. X
